Caring for Your Areca Leaf Tableware: A Quick Guide
Areca leaf plates and bowls are built to be sturdy and leak-resistant, but a little care goes a long way in getting the most out of every piece.
Before use: our tableware is ready to serve straight out of the pack — no washing required. If you'd like to rinse it anyway, a quick pass under running water is enough.
Microwave, fridge and oven: our plates and bowls are safe in the microwave and refrigerator, and can handle the oven up to about 180°C. Avoid direct stovetop flame or grilling contact, since the leaf will scorch like any natural material would.
Cleaning: areca leaf tableware is designed for single use, but a light wipe-down with a damp cloth is fine if you're reusing a piece for a dry snack later the same day. We don't recommend dishwashers — the extended heat and water exposure will soften the leaf faster than intended.
Disposal: this is where areca leaf truly earns its eco-credentials. Once you're done, the plate can go straight into a home compost pit or a municipal wet-waste bin. With normal moisture and soil contact, it breaks down naturally within about 60 days — no landfill, no microplastics, no lingering thermocol.
